Aged Joint Standards Under Review - Your Input Matters

Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand periodically review standards and standards related publications that are more than five years old to ensure they remain relevant, effective, and aligned with current industry practices. These documents are referred to as Aged Standards and are assessed to determine whether they should be updated, withdrawn, or reconfirmed. As part of this process, we seek feedback from stakeholders like you, those with deep industry knowledge and practical experience as well as anyone who may be users of or affected by the standards.

Why Your Input Is Important

Your expertise can directly influence the future of these standards. We want to know:

  • Do you agree with reconfirming the standard in its current form?
  • Should it be revised to reflect current or new practices.
  • Is it outdated and better withdrawn?
  • Are there other standards or documents currently used in place of the proposed standard?

Possible Outcomes of the Review

  • Reconfirm / Retain – The standard remains relevant and unchanged.
  • Revised - The standard is still relevant but contains outdated content, it should be revised rather than reconfirmed
  • Withdraw – The standard is no longer maintained but remains available for reference and purchase.

A Standard May Be Withdrawn If:

  • It no longer reflects current practice or research.
  • It is unsuitable for new or existing applications.
  • It does not meet modern expectations for quality, safety, or environmental impact.
