DZ PAS 4509 Firefighting Water Supplies – Code of Practice
Overview
Overview
We are consulting on the Draft PAS 4509 Firefighting Water Supplies – Code of Practice.
What is the PAS about?
This Code of Practice aligns water supply resources with the operational requirements of Fire and Emergency New Zealand, providing a benchmark for infrastructure design that supports effective firefighting.
This Code of Practice sets out what constitutes a sufficient minimum supply of water pressure and volume for firefighting in structures and guidance on options for establishing water supplies to provide intervention opportunities for wildfires.
It is intended that the Code will form the basis of a partnership between FENZ, local authorities, Water Service Providers, the Water Services Authority, builders, designers and developers, and so on. It is also intended that the Code may be used as a basis for local authorities, Wate Service Providers and water organisations’ requirements of water supplies or to be used as a reference called up, for example, by local authorities in relation to rules for the district plan.
We look forward to hearing your feedback and encourage you to take part in the public consultation process and have your say. We understand that there is a lot of information to digest and to consider in the new draft publicly available specification, but your view is both encouraged and appreciated.
