DR 24047 Amendment No.1 to AS/NZS 4417.2:2020 relating to regulatory compliance mark for electrical equipment (QR-012) (Public Consultation)
Overview
We are consulting on a proposed amendment to an existing joint Australian/New Zealand standard (AS/NZS). The proposed standard was prepared by Joint Technical Committee QR-012 Conformance Marking to Regulatory Requirements.
The amendment to AS/NZS 4417.2:2020 Regulatory compliance mark for electrical and electronic equipment – Part 2: Specific requirements for particular regulatory applications is proposed to maintain the standard’s relevance, allowing it to stay effective in addressing the rapid advancements in technology and the associated risks of newly proposed classes of electrical equipment.
As technology evolves, new types of household and industrial electrical products emerge, which may not be adequately covered by existing safety regulations. Amending the standard ensures that these new products can be regulated, minimising potential risks to users.
Additionally, reviewing and updating the standard helps to address any newly identified risks that may have surfaced in the industry, ensuring that safety protocols remain robust and comprehensive.
